Into Ordinary Time

May 26, 2007 14:57 by Admin

As we recieve the Spirit on Pentecost, we are charged to spread the good news.  Ordinary time is the perfect time to live the life we proclaim during our glorious festive seasons.

Our rule from Albert, Patriarch of Jerusalem ends with…“Here then are a few points I have written down to provide you with a standard of conduct to live up to; but our Lord, at his Second Coming will reward anyone who does more than he is obliged to do.”

We have been given a gift in our vocation, let us readily share this gift in love as the eyes, hands & body of Our Lord.  May our reward come in the joy of helping our sisters and brothers in need this summer!

Peace, KH

Purity of Heart in Saint Augustine

February 23, 2007 14:58 by Admin
"Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see God.” Since Purity of heart is a dispositon of the heart, Augustine sees that the starting place to obtaining this virtue is taking a closer look at one’s own heart. What you want to see is pure, what you want to see it with is impure. God alone is pure, one cannot hope to see God with an impure heart.*

What are the hindrances that block your heart’s clear perception of God? During this lenten season, pay special attention to the purity of your intention in your thoughts, words and actions.

*Essay on Purity of Heart in Saint Augustine by Gertrude Gillette, O.S.B.

Lent 2007 from his Holiness Benedict XVI

February 21, 2007 14:59 by Admin
May Lent be for every Christian a renewed experience of God’s love given to us in Christ, a love that each day we, in turn, must “regive” to our neighbour, especially to the one who suffers most and is in need. Only in this way will we be able to participate fully in the joy of Easter.

Perfect Love

January 12, 2007 14:53 by Admin

I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”  John 13:34-35

Thinking too much

November 8, 2006 18:04 by Admin

Love doesn’t exist — as we like to think — in the degree to which we are happy.  No.  Love exists in the strength of our determination to try to please God in everything that we do, each and every day.  The important thing is not to think much but to love much.  So start doing whatever most stirs you to love.

Prayer to Our Blessed Mother

August 1, 2006 14:55 by Admin
I received this prayer from a Cloistered Carmelite nun in Christoval, Texas.

“O Virgin Mother, let me share your consciousness of Christ, that like you I be lovingly aware of HIm all day. O Mother, how I wish I could give Christ the love you gave Him. May I see Jesus through your eyes and love him through your heart, being one with Him in mind and will, that He may mean to me that deep, abiding peace of soul His Presence meant to you.”
